Steam recognizes the controller, says it's connected, and when I launch sekiro thru steam I get the little popups at the bottom that tell me the controller is loaded. However the game still doesn't respond to the controller, so any idea what I should do? To get ds4windows to work, you have to close steam altogether. Check your task tray to make sure it isn't just minimized, but actually fully shutdown, sekiro wont download on ps4.
My comment for meant specifically for ds4windows and sekiro. You don't need to check Hide DS4 Controller for other games for a dualshock 4 to work.
You do need to do exactly that for Sekiro without Steam running in the background, if steam controller settings doesn't work for you. Are you using the Jays2King version, or the Ryochan7 fork? Try the latter if you're not already using it, sekiro wont download on ps4. Make sure that you don't have other controller wrappers running in the background, only ds4windows.
Also, if you have any unusual input devices other than the standard keyboard and mouse plugged in, try unplugging them. I've read comments where that was the cause of the problem. Also, after applying all the settings, sekiro wont download on ps4, restart Sekiro fresh.
